After studying painting at the University of North Texas, Kurth Bousmanand worked ten years at UT Austin as a research mechanical designer for the Center for Electromechanics, co-authoring UT's most successful patent to date.

Retiring at 36, Kurth traveled Europe, Asia, Africa and Guatemala, then moved to Mexico in the late 80s and began working as a visual artist. He currently lives in San Miguel Allende with his wife and two sons.
