A word from curator Charles Dee Mitchell: When invited to curate an outdoor exhibition for Kirk Hopper Fine Arts I accepted immediately and announced, "I shall call it Rain or Shine." Because isn't that really the point when you expose art to the elements? Whatever happens, happens. I then invited four artists to participate, artists who do not under normal circumstances work outside, telling them they could do more or less whatever they wished. My concerns would be about safety codes and that they have a clear understanding that what they produced might radically alter during the run of the exhibition. The artists are Jesse Morgan Barnett (Dallas), Glenn Downing (Waco), Michael Henderson (Huntsville), and Ludwig Schwarz (Dallas). Their site-specific projects, some of which are not fully defined as of this writing, will include sculpture, a mural, a clothesline, and something involving shrink wrap. I look forward to seeing it.
